You on a Diet: Staying Healthy |

There are many fad diets that might help you lose weight quickly. But unless you learn how to maintain your weight loss, you will have to return to dieting. Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Michael Roizen have developed You on a Diet. This plan is designed to help you lose weight and keep it off – once and for all! They feel the ideal waist size for women is 32 ½ inches and the ideal waist for men is 35 inches. Their plan helps you reach that goal and keep it without feeling like you are dieting. They explain why your body stores blubber, and how cutting just 100 calories out of your daily diet can help you lose a pound a month. In their book, You on a Diet, they talk about how people who cut out 400 calories a month often found themselves yo-yo dieting – that is going up and down in weight. Dr. Oz also believes that fasting shuts down your metabolism. The first step in the You on a Diet plan is to evaluate what you have in your pantry. Drs. Oz and Roizen say there are five items which should never be a part of your diet ever again. The first item to avoid is hydrogenated oil. The second item to avoid is sugar. The third item to avoid is high fructose corn syrup. The fourth item to avoid is enriched flour. The fifth item to avoid is bleached flour. On the You on a Diet plan, you should also always check ingredient labels. This lets you know how much saturated fat and sugar you are consuming. You should only buy foods in which each serving contains less than four grams of saturated fat and less then four grams of sugar. One thing you shouldn’t avoid is polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats – that is good for you and helps fight depression. |
