The Slim Fast Diet involves using Slim Fast shakes, bars, and snacks to be used as dietary supplements. It is sold in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Brazil, and Mexico. In the past, several celebrities have endorsed the Slim Fast Diet including Tommy Lasorda, Shari Belafonte, Kathie Lee Gifford, Whoopi Goldberg, Ann Jillian, Bob Suzie, and Barry Bethel.
The Slim Fast Diet program was founded by S. Daniel Abraham in the late '70's. Initially, it promoted having a shake for breakfast, a shake for lunch, and then a sensible dinner to lose weight. It is a good diet plan for people who are frequently on the go. Rather than getting high calorie fast food takeout, you can drink a Slim Fast shake for breakfast and lunch. Too many people skip breakfast, but having a shake in the morning can help you when dieting. In 2004, Slim Fast began producing low-carb items in response to the overwhelming amount of low carb diets on the market. The addition of bars and snacks made the system much more flexible.
Currently, there are five types of Slim Fast Diet products from which you can choose. The Original shakes come in the following flavors: Cappuccino Delight, Creamy Milk Chocolate, French Vanilla, Rich Chocolate Royale, and Strawberries N’ Cream. The Optima type provides powders, shakes, and bars that contain less sugar. You combine one scoop of Optima powder with 8 ounces of skim milk to create a shake. The Optima flavors are Milk Chocolate, French Vanilla, Chocolate Royale, and Strawberries N’ Cream. The other types are Low-Carb, High Protein (which contains Vitamin B Complex to help promote your metabolism), and Easy-To-Digest (with are lactose and gluten free).
Slim Fast also provides information on how you can create your own flexible weekly menu using a combination of foods you purchase along with their shakes and bars.
